New MIXED MEDIA class

Here is a close up of a work in progress.  I plan to use it as a sample for a new mixed media class I am working on.  The base is corrugated cardboard with the top layers torn away in sections to reveal the underlying texture.  I added tissue paper and paint, then cut out and glued down a vintage illustration.  After letting the entire piece dry, I added more color with crayons and colored pencils.

Mermaid

 

"Mermaid"  I love how this turned out!  I have been "loosening up" my drawing and painting skills to achieve a fresh and more spontaneous look to my art.  Created with brush with ink and a gel pen. 

Still Life With Orange Flowers

"Still Life With Orange Flowers" These trumpet shaped beauties grow wild in my yard and produce green seed pods that turn brown in the fall.  I  grouped them with sprigs picked from surrounding shrubs.

Evening Frog

"Evening Frog"  This watercolor sketch is inspired by the little brown frogs that live in my backyard.  I can see them at dusk and sometimes hear their tiny chirps.
